THE MOST DANGEROUS INTERSECTIONS IN AMERICA

By Nate Lee
If you’ve driven in L.A., San Francisco, New York, or Boston, you may be surprised to know that even with all their notoriously reckless citizens, none of them has the most dangerous intersections in the country.
That honor goes to the tiny town of Pembroke Pines, Florida (at the intersection of Flamingo Road and Pines Blvd.), north of Miami, which claims, with great shame, to have an accident virtually every other day of the year, for a total of 357 over a two-year period.
State Farm, which issued the report based on the number of accidents and injuries, did not speculate as to whether the notorious number was due to the inordinately high number of seniors driving in the area.
Philadelphia earns the silver and bronze for 331 accidents in the same period at Red Lion Rd. and Roosevelt Blvd., and 261 accidents (yes, a distant third) at nearby Grant Avenue and Roosevelt Blvd.
Though Metairie, Louisiana, outside of New Orleans, racks up a preposterous 328 accidents at Clearview Parkway (obviously misnamed) and Veterans Memorial (obviously well-named) Blvd., they aren’t serious enough accidents to contend with Philly.

The remaining six are in the Wild West, where they still have a hard time merely accepting the authority of your average stop sign:
Tulsa, Oklahoma, 51st Street and Memorial Drive, 304 accidents.
Frisco, Texas, State Highway 121 and Preston Road, 280 accidents.
Phoenix, Arizona, 7th Street and Bell Road, 268 accidents.
Phoenix, Arizona, 19th Avenue and Northern Avenue, 255 accidents.
Sacramento, California, Fair Oaks Boulevard and Howe Avenue, 246 accidents.
Tulsa, Oklahoma, 71st Street and Memorial Drive, 245 accidents.
